Regional state nature reserve “Kayta” shall perform the following functions: (a) conservation of ecosystems, natural landscapes and natural complexes (including wetlands); (b) conservation of rare and endangered mushrooms, plants and animals, and genetic resources of the aforesaid species; (c) conservation and reproduction of biological diversity; and (d) conservation of high aesthetic and recreational values for promotion of ecological and scientific tourism. The following activities shall be prohibited: (a) timber extraction and harvesting of non-timber forest products; (b) exploration and mining; (c) ploughing up; (d) use and storage of pesticides and other toxic chemicals; (e) waste disposal and littering of the territory; (f) removal of objects of cultural heritage; and (g) introduction and release of alien species.
