It is destined for conservation of the natural and historical landscape of the lower Prichumysh region and for preservation and restoration of the population of rare and economically valuable wild fauna and wild flora species. The objectives of state complex natural reserve of regional significance “Ust-Chumyshsky” shall be as follows: (a) Preservation and restoration of individual components and natural complex in general at the mouth of the Chumysh River; (b) preservation of objects of the natural and archaeological complex; and (c) conservation of wetlands and floodplain sedge forests. Tasks and functions of the reserve shall be as follows: (a) preservation of natural complexes of the mouth of the Chumysh and adjacent areas (floodplain biotones, stations of pine forests); (b) preservation of migratory routes, nesting sites, resting places, wintering grounds of rare species of birds and birds of the wetland complex; (c) conservation and restoration of rare (sturgeon, Siberian white salmon (Stenodus leucichthys)) and valuable in the economic relation (carp, ide, bream, pike perch) fish species; (d) conservation of spawning grounds for phytophilous fish (carp, bream, pike perch) and, possibly, fish psammophiles (sterlet); and (e) preservation of migration routes, feeding and wintering areas of valuable migratory fish species (Siberian sturgeon and Siberian white salmon (Stenodus leucichthys)). The following activities shall be prohibited of the territory of the reserve: (a) commercial, sport and recreational hunting; (b) all types of fishing; (c) procurement of medicinal and other plants; (d) burning of vegetation; (e) grazing and transit of livestock in water protection zone of the Chumysh river; (f) allotment of land plots for construction; (g) plowing of land, use of pesticides and mineral fertilizers; (h) carrying out irrigation and drainage and irrigation works; (i) blasting operations; (j) any form of recreational activities; and (k) main use felling and timber extraction. The following activities shall be authorized on the territory of the reserve: (a) haymaking no earlier than July 1 in the field as agreed with the management a reserve; (b) cattle grazing in places in agreement with the management of the reserve; (c) picking mushrooms and berries no earlier than July 1; (d) hunting of game for research purposes by agreement with the management of the reserve; (e) carrying out excavations for scientific purposes with the subsequent restoration of the relief (reconstruction) of the area; and (f) forest fire prevention arrangements.
