The Minister shall appoint a National Public Health Advisory Committee to advise him upon matters affecting public health. Part II defines summary offences including improper keeping of animals, birds or fish, wrong construction of wells or water storage, pollution of pools, lagoons, ditches or watercourses, and obstruction of watercourses. Section 36 prohibits the sale of adulterated food, whereas section 37 prohibits false labelling of food. The importation of any article which does not comply with the provisions of this Act is prohibited (sect. 40). If in the opinion of the Minister, a food would or may be dangerous or injurious to health, the Minister may declare by Notice that food to be dangerous or injurious and the Minister may prohibit by Order the cultivation, taking, harvesting, or otherwise obtaining any food from any area if, in the opinion of the Minister, that food may be dangerous or injurious to persons who consume that food. Other provisions of Part III concern storage of food, directions regarding importation of food, standards for food premises (secs 46 to 48), hygienic handling of food (sects. 49 to 60) and slaughter of animals and the transport of meat (sects. 61 to 70).
