A ship complies with the anti-fouling requirements if: (a) it has no HAFC applied on any designated external surface; or (b) each HAFC that is applied on any designated external surface has a coating that forms a barrier to the HAFC leaching into the water. The Australian Maritime Safety Authority may approve bodies corporate as survey authorities for purposes of this Act.
