Entry into force notes
This Decree enters into force the day after its publication in the Official Gazette.
Resumen

This Resolution consisting of 15 articles aims at establishing the Waste Management Regulatory Agency (WMRA) in Egypt. The role of WMRA will be to catalyze the development of the solid waste management sector, as a national center of competence. Main objectives of the Agency are: set the rules and responsibilities for all entities working on solid waste; develop adequate legislation and strategic plans to improve all aspects of the integrated waste management in the country; develop mechanisms and procedures for cost recovery; encourage investment and seek opportunities for funding; provide guidance and supervise decentralized developments related to solid waste management and cleanliness in all governorates; collect and analyze data on the quantities and composition of solid waste at the governorate level, and establish systems for data management, monitoring and reporting; develop execution models and financing schemes to deal with all types of waste, including packaging and packaging waste, electronic waste, batteries, construction and demolition waste, industrial wastes, agricultural waste and medical waste. It also will work to promote recycling industry and related professions and raise public awareness and community commitment to sound management of solid waste.
