Entry into force notes

The Decree shall enter into force as from 30 November 2010 with the exception of the provisions of paragraph 15, article 2, which will be in effect as from the date of publication in the Official Gazette. Furthermore, as from 30 November 2010 fishing vessels with total length beyond 15 metres falling under the obligation of using the equipment foreseen in article 6a, shall be liable for sanctions prescribed under paragraph 15, article 2 after three (03) months from the publication of the present Decree.

Resumen

The Decree amends the provisions contained in Presidential Decree No. 49/2005 as regards the use of automatic identification systems by fishing vessels and the use of systems for the long-range identification and tracking of ships, in accordance with EU Directive 2009/17/EC establishing a Community vessel traffic monitoring and information system. In particular, the new article 6a establishes the use of automatic identification systems (AIS) on fishing vessels.
