The park was constituted for the purpose of preserving valuable natural territories and historical and cultural complexes and objects of the forest-steppe zone of important natural, recreational, cultural and educational significance. The main tasks of the park are: (a) ensuring protection of its territory with all objects; (b) preservation of valuable natural complexes and historical and cultural sites located on its territory, in particular wild fauna and wild flora species, and natural habitats listed in the Ukrainian Red Book and listed in international Red Books; (c) creation of conditions for organized tourism, recreation and other types of recreational activities in natural conditions in compliance with the protection regime of protected natural complexes and objects; (d) organization and implementation of scientific and research works, including the study of natural complexes and changes thereof in the conditions of recreational use, development and implementation of scientific recommendations on protection issues related to natural environment, reproduction of certain species of flora and fauna, restoration of disturbed ecosystems, management and rational use of natural resources, organization and monitoring of landscape and biological diversity; (e) revival of local traditions of nature management, local arts and crafts and other types of folk art; and (f) carrying out ecological educational work.
