Resumen This Order approves the Technical Regulation for Food Additives. It establishes their definitions, classification and use. This Regulation, consisting of 5 sections, specifies procedural matters to regulate the above mentioned activity. The use of additives is justified on technological, health, nutritional or sensory grounds where: Additives authorized in concentrations such that their intake does not exceed the recommended daily intake (ADI) values; Meet the purity requirements established by FAO-WHO, or Food Chemical Codex. The use of food additives is prohibited when: there is evidence or suspicion that it is not safe for human consumption; interfering sensibly and unfavorably in food nutritional value; serve to mask failures in processing and/or manipulation techniques; cover adulteration of the raw material or product already made; induce the consumer to error, deception or confusion, etc. Texto completo Portugués Página web bvsms.saude.gov.br
