This Order regulates the animal objects, establishes hunting rules by species, and validates the list of hunting gear. Authorizations for artisanal and sport hunting shall be granted exclusively to persons in possession of a hunting licence. Hunting shall be permitted only in specially designated areas (except for migratory birds) – in cases established by law. The quantity of animals that may be hunted shall be defined by the terms of the licence. The Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources shall be the licensing authority for hunting. Hunting shall be prohibited within a 5 km zone around the protected areas of Georgia. The following hunting methods shall be prohibited at any time: (a) burning reeds, moor grass, sedge grass or other types of ferulaceous plants; (b) gathering or selling the eggs of wild birds; (c) removing birds nests or destroying lies or other habitation places of animals; (d) using factory or hand-crafted nets (except for the permitted cases of hunting game birds of prey), traps, pits, loops, chip flakers, poisons, reflectors mounted on hunting weapons, or explosive devices; (e) chasing animals on snow while hunting, stripping animals on ice, in deep snow, on cut reeds or moor grass; (f) making night bonfires while hunting, hunting incubating wild birds (on water, wires, bushes or trees), or hunting wild animals that are lying; (g) hunting at night from aircraft, motorcycles, boats or other vehicles by means of headlights or searchlights; (h) hunting prone animals (overcome, lost coat, hungry) during natural calamities (floods, fires, big snow, etc.) as well as hunting animals while crossing water or overcome by other difficulties; (i) smoking, flooding, or digging animals out of their dens; (j) hunting animals with or without a firearm by chasing them to the point of exhaustion by car, motorcycle, aircraft, helicopter, boat or other vehicle ; (k); hunting wild waterfowl by chasing them in motorboats or cutters; (l) hunting while moving in rows; (m) hunting any type of wild animal or bird by means of rounding them up; and (n) hunting large hoofed mammals using small-calibre rifles and shot. The following hunting gear shall be authorized for hunting: (a) smoothbore hunting weapons (single-barrel, twin-barrel, multi-round); (b) hunting rifles (semi-automatic carbines, carbines – under a special licence allowing the purchase of such a weapon); (c) combined hunting weapons (smoothbore and rifles, with any number of barrels and any combination); (d) game birds of prey; (e) greyhounds.
