Resumen

The Order regulates ports of Georgia. It consists of 21 chapters: General Provisions (I); Rules for ships entering and leaving ports (II); Pilot accompanying ships (III); General terms for towing service (IV); Sailing of ships in port waters (V); Fishing in port waters (VI); Ship anchored in ports (VII); Cargo operation in ports (VIII); Loading, unloading of ships and storing cargo (IX); Operations regarding hazardous cargo (X); Passenger transportation operations (XI); Rules for construction, and building port structures and equipment, hydro-technical structures and navigation equipment and use thereof (XII); Keeping order, protection and movement on the territory of ports (XIII); Fire safety regime for oil/gas terminals of ports (XIV); Prevention of pollution of water area of ports (XV); Port customs (XVI); Batumi Port (XVII); Poti Port (XVIII); Supsa Port (XIX); Kulevi Port (XX); and Ports of Abkhazia (XXI). The Order also approves List of documents to be presented for ships entering and leaving ports (Annex No. 1); Minimum number of tower(s) depending on the length of a ship in Poti Port (Annex No. 2); Minimum number of tower(s) depending on the length of a ship in Batumi Port (Annex No. 3); Markings of dangerous cargo (reference book) (Annex No. 4); Radio connection channels in Georgian ports (Annex No. 5); Water area of Batumi Port (Annex No. 6); Registration length of the docks of Batumi Port (Annex No. 7); Region of anchorage of small vessels in Batumi Port (internal anchorage) (Annex No. 8); Coordinates of anchorage in Batumi Port (Annex No. 9); Water area of Poti Port (Annex No. 10); Docks of Poti Port (Annex No. 11); Coordinates of water area of Supsa Port (Annex No. 12); Water area of Kulevi Port (Annex No. 13); Water area of Sokhumi Port (Annex No. 14); Required number of towing ropes in Batumi Port (Annex No. 15); Nature of action of Tiagun phenomenon in Batumi Port (Annex No. 16); Wind speeds (Annex No.17); and Douglas sea scale degrees (Annex No. 18). The purpose of the Order is to safeguard safe sailing. It applies to any ship regardless of the flag state. However, it does not apply to military and state-owned ships used for non-commercial purposes.
