Resumen

This Act establishes the National Commission for Privatisation as a body corporate and defines its functions, duties and internal structure. The also prescribes procedures for privatisation of public enterprises. The Commission is established is to serve as the policy and decision making body with regard to the divestiture and reform of public enterprises. It shall transfer the management of all public enterprises to the Commission, and remove the interference in the management of public enterprises from line Ministries, thereby ensuring transparency, corporate governance and avoidance of conflict of interest in the affairs of public enterprises. "Public enterprise" includes any statutory corporation established by or under an Act of Parliament or a company in which the Government has a shareholding and which is specified in the First Schedule. The Act prescribes the mode of privatisation and divestiture and provides for post-privatisation evaluation and monitoring. Scheduled enterprises include: the Sierra Leone Produce Marketing Board, the Sierra Leone Ports Authority, the Guma Valley Water Company, the Forest Industries Corporation and the National Development Bank.
