Ministerial Decree No. 770 regarding governmental institutions subordinated to the Ministry of Environmental Protection and validating the Regulation on the State Inspection of Forest Protection, Conservation, Forest Management and Afforestation and the Regulation on the State Ecological Inspection.

The Government decrees to establish that the State Ecological Inspection, the State Service of Nature Reserves and the State Hydro-meteorological Service shall be subordinated to the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources. The State Inspection of Forest Protection, Conservation, Forest Management and Afforestation (State Forest Inspection) is the governmental institution subordinated to the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources. The main functions of the State Forest Inspection are to take part within its sphere of competence in carrying out the state policy in the sphere of forest protection, conservation, forest management and afforestation, and also state control over compliance with the requirements of forest legislation. The State Forest Inspection shall carry out the following functions: 1) organization of state control of forest management and management of nature reserves and protected areas; 2) implementation of regulations, standards and requirements of state environmental audit; 3) validation of the requirements regarding timber extraction and cutting areas; 4) elaboration of the norms and standards in the sphere of forest protection, conservation, forest management and afforestation. The State Ecological Inspection is the governmental institution subordinated to the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources. The main functions of the State Ecological Inspection are to take part within its sphere of competence in carrying out the state policy in the sphere of environmental protection, rational management of natural resources (land, surface water, atmospheric air, wildlife and vegetable kingdom, natural resources of territorial sea, continental shelf and the EEZ of the Ukraine), management of waste, pesticides and agro-chemicals, ensuring environmental and radiation safety.
