Ministerial Decree No. 154 validating the Regulation on issuance of authorization for use of traditional knowledge.

This Ministerial Decree regulates the procedure for submittal of application, categories of persons entitled to protection of intellectual property rights, and also establishes requirements for application, establishes the definition of traditional knowledge ad determines objects subject to registration as traditional knowledge. Only owners of traditional knowledge shall be authorized for registration thereof. Traditional knowledge shall be considered a sum of notions related to the principles of development of nature. Traditional shall be considered knowledge transferred from generation to generation. Descriprion of traditional knowledge must contain the following data: (a) place of origin of traditional knowledge (traceability); (b) description of genetic resources in case of connection thereof to traditional knowledge; (c) area of application of traditional knowledge; and (d) sources of information about traditional knowledge.
