Ministerial Decree No. 1227 validating the Regulation on water charges.

This Ministerial Decree establishes the modalities of calculation, collection and payment of water charges for the use of surface water by the branches of the national economy. Water charges shall be applicable to all types of industrial water use with or without water abstraction form surface waterbodies. The purpose of the collection of water charges shall be to compensate reproduction and conservation of water resources, economic stimulation of the rational water use and efficient management of water resources. Water supplying organizations, municipal and communal services, industrial enterprises (including heat-and-power engineering), agricultural and fishing enterprises, hydroelectric engineering and water transport enterprises and organizations shall be subject to payment of water charges. Water charges shall be calculated in accordance with tariffs set for water users.
