Resumen

A set of definitions, including: "farm bottled milk", "untreated milk which has been produced from a herd owned or controlled by a licensed producer and bottled, or placed in cartons or other containers, at the place of production", "milk" (cow's milk, but does not include cream, or separated, skimmed, dried, condensed or evaporated milk, or butter milk); and "raw milk" (milk which has not been treated by heat). In the light of Council Directive 85/397/EC, these Regulations reenact a modified version of the amended Milk (Special Designation) Regulations 1986 to address health and animal health problems in intra-Community traded heat-treated milk. The Regulations prescribe designations 'Untreated', 'Pasteurized', 'Sterilized' and 'Ultra Heat Treated') and a licence application and renewal procedure of use in the production, handling, treatment, storage, distribution and sale of milk. The Regulations also provide for the refusal, suspension and revocation of licenses authorizing use of these special designations as well as an appeals procedure for affected license-holders.
