Resumen

These Regulations, made under section 228 of the Merchant Shipping Act, no. 26 of 2007, apply to Mauritius ships even beyond the limit of the territorial waters, and foreign ships while they are in Mauritius waters. The Regulations concern: appropriate certification; responsibilities of companies, masters and designated crew members; environmental protection and emergency procedures; minimum safe manning document; general duty of company, employers and masters; record keeping; exceptions in case of emergencies involving the safety of the ship, the life of any person, eventual damages to the environment; inspection of foreign ships, in case of unlawful discharge of hazardous substances or lack of prevention of marine pollution; conditions to declare the ship unsafe, including absence of equipment essential for safe navigation and cases of marine pollution.
