Resumen

This Part of Chapter 379 of the Florida Statutes concerns marine life. It declares the policy of the state to be management and preservation of its renewable marine fishery resources, based upon the best available information, emphasizing protection and enhancement of the marine and estuarine environment in such a manner as to provide for optimum sustained benefits and use to all the people of this state for present and future generations. It further provides for marine information system; saltwater fish regulations; catching food fish for the purposes of making oil; fishers and equipment regulation; illegal use of nets; carriage of proscribed nets across Florida waters; retrieval of spiny lobster, stone crab, blue crab, and black sea bass traps during closed season, and the authority of the Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission; spearfishing, limitations and penalty; prohibition of possession of separated shark fins on the water and related penalties; regulation of marine animals; manatee protection; enhanced manatee protection study; regulations of crustacea, marine animals, fish; requirement of spiny lobster reports by dealers during closed season; Tortugas shrimp beds, and gifted and loan property; regulation of shrimp fishing in Clay, Duval, Nassau, Putnam, Flagler, and St. Johns Counties; regulation of sponges; artificial reef program, and grants and financial and technical assistance to local governments; Florida Ships-2-Reefs Program and matching grant requirements; sale of unlawfully landed product; lease of state-owned water bottoms for growing oysters and clams; oysters produced in and outside state, its labeling and tracing; aquaculture; marine aquaculture products, producers, and facilities; commercial production of sturgeon; noncultured shellfish harvesting; and illegal importation or possession of nonindigenous marine plants and animals.
