Experimental prohibition on lobster fishing between July and September (art. 1). Fishing boats which violate this prohibition shall be confiscated together with their fishing gear and catch. This Document also lists sanctions for offenders. If considered necessary, confiscated fish shall be sold in favour of Public Assistance. Violations of such Provisions shall be the subject of an official declaration with a right to appeal to the regional Governor. Fishing vessels and their confiscated gear shall be returned to owners upon payment of a fine (art. 2). Catching, keeping or selling lobsters is allowed only if: they exceed 500 grams in weight; they are not egg-carrying females; their length is at least 20 centimetres (art. 3). Lobsters fishing for scientific purposes is exempt from this prohibition (art. 4). Trade, storage, etc., not complying with these requirements shall be penalized according to article 29 of Decree-Law No. 41 204 of 24 July 1957 (art. 5). Violations of the Provisions in article 3, paragraph b shall be subject to strict fines. Maritime authorities shall be responsible for monitoring implementation (arts. 7-9). Texto completo Francés
