Resumen This Law consisting of 20 articles aims at establishing the Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority, the local body in charge of agriculture, food safety, food security and biosecurity in the Emirate. ADAFSA aims to the sustainable development of agriculture, food security, and preservation of plant and animal health in a way that upholds biosecurity and achieves food security. In addition, the Authority is responsible for preparing plans, programs and activities in the aforementioned fields. The Authority, in order to ensure the access of safe food to the community, is assigned to control and inspect the Emirate's (i) food and agriculture establishments, (ii) farms, (iii) agricultural inputs, (iv) imported, exported, and circulated in the Emirate food and agricultural items, and (v) food and agricultural items made in the country. ADAFSA also (i) supervises the establishment and management of emergency food reserves in cooperation with the competent authorities; (ii) is responsible for making partnerships and investments with investment funds, investors and the private sector in the areas of its work; and (iii) issues licenses and permits to undertake any agriculture or food activities according to legislation in force.
