Resumen

The scope of this Law is to ensure the exercise of their equal rights by women and men in the political, economic, social, cultural and other spheres of life, rights guaranteed by the Constitution of the Republic of Moldova, in order to prevent and eliminate all forms of discrimination according to the criterion of sex. Subjects of legal relations ensuring equality between women and men are: the state, legal entities and natural persons (regardless of age). In the Republic of Moldova, women and men benefit from equal rights and freedoms, being guaranteed and equal opportunities for their exercise. Measures to ensure special conditions for women during pregnancy, childbirth and breastfeeding shall not be considered discriminatory. The procedures necessary to ensure equality between women and men, as well as the provisions for preventing and combating sexual harassment at the workplace are included in individual employment contracts, in collective employment contracts and in collective contracts as obligations of the employer and the employee. The employer provides information to all employees regarding the prohibition of acts of discrimination and sexual harassment at the workplace in order to prevent them, regarding the rights available to employees to resolve discrimination situations, regarding the solutions proposed by employers in cases of discrimination, as well as regarding the liability provided for by law, including by displaying in visible places the respective provisions of the unit's internal regulations. Gender units work within local public administration authorities. This Law contains VII Chapters divided into 25 Articles. Chapter I lays down general provisions. Chapter II ensures equal opportunities between women and men in the public administration. Chapter III ensures equal opportunities between women and men in the socio-economic field. Chapter IV ensures equal opportunities between women and men in the field of education and health. Chapter V establishes institutional framework for ensuring equality between women and men. Chapter VI establishes liability. Chapter VII lays down final provisions.
