Resumen This Law, composed of 56 articles divided into six Chapters, creates the State System of Conservation Units (SISEUC). SISEUC has the following objectives: contribute to the maintenance of biodiversity and genetic resources in the state territory and in jurisdictional waters; preserve and/or restore natural ecosystems; protect endemic, rare and endangered species at the national and state levels; contribute to the preservation and restoration of the biodiversity of the Atlantic Forest, its associated ecosystems and marine environments; promote sustainable development from the conservation of natural resources; protect natural heritage; protect relevant geological, geo-morphological, speleological, archaeological, paleontological, historical and cultural characteristics; protect and recover water resources; recover degraded ecosystems; provide means and incentives for scientific research and environmental monitoring; value biodiversity; promote education and environmental interpretation, recreation in contact with nature and ecotourism; protect the natural resources necessary for the subsistence of traditional communities, respecting and valuing their knowledge and culture.
