Entry into force notes: The Law enters into force on the date of its official publication.

Resumen: This Law regulates relations regarding potable water. Potable water supply shall be based on the following principles: (a) selection of water supply source complying with sanitary, hygienic and ecological requirements; (b) safety and harmlessness of potable water; (c) meeting the demand of the population in potable water; and (d) constant keeping up potable water quality standards. The Act consists of 6 Sections divided into 27 articles: (1) general provisions; (2) potable water production; (3) potable water quality and control thereof; (4) economic mechanism of potable water supply; (5) liability; and (6) international cooperation. Bottled potable water on the market must comply with state standards and hygienic requirements. Safety, harmlessness and physiological value of bottled potable water shall be subject to mandatory certification. Manufacturing and trade of uncertified potable water shall be prohibited. Potable water quality must comply with requirements of state standards, sanitary and hygienic requirements. Consumers of potable water shall have the right of access to reliable information on potable water quality and compliance thereof with standards, hygienic and sanitary requirements and compliance certificate.
