Resumen This Law shall have as objective protection of infant health and, in particular, of infants and young children, through promotion of breastfeding and regulation of marketing of products and means for artificial nutrition. Products labelled as infant food shall correspond to food safety requirements and technical regulations. Promotion of infant food at wholesale and retail trading organization and also at the institutions of public health shall be prohibited. Infant food supplied to public health institutional and social welfare institutions shall be used exclusively for children that are obliged to receive products for artificial nutrition. Labels of infant food shall not bear photographs, drawings, and graphic images except for those to illustrate the modalities of cooking. Labels shall bear indication on the advantages of breastfeeding, manufacturing, packaging and expiry date, name of producer and trader, and also legal addresses thereof.
