Law No. 24.441 establishing the State policy on bio-inputs.

This Law establishes the State policy on bio-inputs, by bio-input the product, process or technology, of plant, animal or microbial origin, which is intended for use in the production, storage and processing of agricultural products and in aquatic production systems or planted forests, which positively interferes in the growth, development and response mechanism of animals, plants, microorganisms and derived substances that interact with physical-chemical and biological products and processes. The objectives of the policy covered by this law are: I – encourage the production, processing, distribution, commercialization and consumption of bio-inputs; II – stimulate the supply of agricultural and livestock inputs with low impact on the environment and human health; III – promote educational and technical training campaigns on good production practices and use of bio-inputs, valuing them as a sustainable alternative to conventional agricultural inputs; IV – encourage the installation of bio-input production units, considered bio-factories, in different regions of the State, with priority for small and medium-sized ones; V – encourage research, development and innovation in bio-inputs; VI – support the dissemination of bio-inputs of recognized efficacy and safety, in the different application classes.
