This Law enters into force on the day of its publication.

Resumen

This Law creates the State Policy for Environmental Services and regulates the State Programme for Payment for Environmental Services (PEPSA) in the State of Santa Catarina. The Programme will be implemented through Environmental Services Payment Subprograms (PSA), in order to meet the priority criteria for the conservation of natural resources that guarantee the environmental services. The following are guidelines of the State Policy for Payment for Environmental Services: payment for environmental services as an instrument to promote sustainable development; restoration, recovery, protection, preservation, maintenance or improvement of priority areas for the conservation of biodiversity or for the preservation of natural heritage; recognition of the contribution to family farming, artisanal fishing, indigenous peoples and traditional communities for environmental conservation; priority for areas under greater environmental risk; management of priority areas for soil, water and biodiversity conservation, as well as sustainable use activities; and promotion of human actions aimed at the promotion and maintenance of environmental services.
