Resumen This Law, consisting of 18 articles, establishes Plant Sanitary Protection within the State of Ceará. It specifies that Sanitary Plant Protection consists of a set of protecting measures necessary to prevent and eliminate the introduction, dissemination and establishment in the Territory of Ceará of plant pests, as well as to ensure agricultural and industrial productivity within the State. These practices will be carried out through plant traffic control, protecting measures against pests, destruction of plants and plant parts, quarantine, etc. according to the decision of the competent authorities, plant inspection and plant products and pest monitoring. The Agricultural Protection Agency of the State of Ceará is competent for: coordinating, implementing and monitoring the prevention and control of plant pests; establishing the procedures, prohibitions and taxes, by law, required for Sanitary Plant Protection; Periodically updating and publishinh the list of plant pests of economic importance to the State of Ceará.
