Entry into force notes
This Law enters into force on the day of its publication.
Resumen

This Law prohibits the use, catching, destruction, hunting, collection or keeping of critically endangered wild fauna within the State of Ceará. Capture and keeping in captivity may be carried out for didactic-scientific purposes only, upon prior authorization of a state or federal environmental agency. The State Power guarantees the preservation of endangered species and the protection of ecosystems and their habitats. The following species of native wild animals are considered critically endangered wild fauna, compromising their existence in the short term: Birds: a) Araripe Manakin (Antilophia bokermanni) - popular name: "little soldier of Araripe"; b) Grey-breasted Parakeet (Pyrrhura anaca) - popular name: "dirty-headed parakeet"; Mammals: American manatee (Trichechus manatus) - popular name: "manatee"; Reptiles: Leatherback sea turtle (Dermochelys coriacea) - popular name: leatherback turtle. The introduction and reintroduction of critically endangered fauna species into the natural environment is under the responsibility of the State and must be based on technical and scientific data. under penalty of a crime established in Law No. 5,197, of January 3.
