Sweden contiguous zone extends no more than 24 nautical miles measured from the baselines. The zone covers the areas outside, and in direct connection to, the sea territory as shown in Schedule 5 to the Act (2017: 1272) on Sweden's sea territory and maritime zones. Within the contiguous zone, measures may be taken in accordance with the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea in 1982 and otherwise in accordance with international law in order to 1. Exercise the necessary controls to prevent or punish infringements on Swedish territory, including territorial seas, of Laws and Regulations relating to customs, taxes, entry or health issues, and 2.
