Resumen

The present Regulation enforces the Ontario Water Resources Act (R.S.O. 1990, c. O. 40). The present Regulation lays down provisions relating to the protection of Lake Simcoe, the largest inland lake in southern Ontario. A significant concern affecting Lake Simcoe’s ecological health is an over-abundance of phosphorus. In particular, section 2 establishes that each owner of a sewage treatment plant listed in column 2 of Table 1 shall ensure that the plant does not discharge in treated sewage to a surface water body an amount of total phosphorus that exceeds the amount listed opposite each plant in Column 4 of Table 1 during each of the periods listed in this section.
