Resumen

Kola tenancies are any of the traditional and indigenous forms of leasing land in which the rents are made in the form of token payment like some part of farm produce or literally, “kola nuts”. They are very popular among rural farmers. The Law provides for the establishment of tribunals at the Local Government levels to handle disputes arising from Kola Tenancies and to have the powers and privileges of High Court. The Tribunal also has powers which range from approving an application for Kola Tenancies to the application seeking to extinguish same; the Law provides procedural details on these particulars. The Law further grants powers to the Commissioner for Lands to make regulations and other subsidiary legislations to this law.
