Resumen

The Regulation consists of 8 Sections dealing with the following matters: 1) general provisions (sect. 1); 2) characteristics of Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy (BSE) (sect. 2); 3) diagnostics of Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy (BSE) (sect. 3); 4) arrangements for the prevention of the introduction of Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy (BSE) on the national territory (sect. 4); 5) arrangements for the recovery of farms infected with Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy (BSE) (sect. 5); 6) the requirements for the examination of the pathological material by veterinary laboratories (sect. 6); 7) requirements for dealing with animals suspected of being infected with Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy (BSE) at meat-processing and dairy-processing enterprises (sect. 7); 8) safety requirements set for the personnel (sect. 8). The aforesaid Regulation establishes the basic principles as regards diagnostication, prophylaxis and prevention of the introduction and spreading on the national territory of Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy (BSE). It shall be compulsory for all legal and natural persons, and also for peasant farms. The Regulation for the diagnostication of Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy (BSE) consists of 12 Sections dealing with the following matters: 1) general requirements (sect. 1); 2) clinical symptoms of disease (sect. 2); 3) pathologoanatomical and histological changes (sect. 3); 4) epizootological symptoms (sect. 4); 5) diagnostication of Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy (BSE) (sect. 5); 6) the modalities of selection of brain samples for diagnostication (sect. 6); 7) pathologohistological diagnostication (sect. 7); 8) electronic and microscopic research (sect. 8); 9) extraction of Prion Protein PrP27-32 by means of immune blotting (sect. 9); 10) differential diagnosis (sect. 10); 11) final diagnosis of Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy (BSE) (sect. 11); 12) safety requirements for the contact with pathological material in the process of carrying out diganostication (sect. 12). Diagnostication of Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy (BSE) shall include the following stages: 1) study of clinical symptoms; 2) study of epizootological situation; 3) pathologohistological testing and research; 4) electronic and microscopic research; 5) immune blotting.
