Resumen

This Joint Instruction establishes that the main sources of infection of brucellosis for human beings are sheep, goat, cattle and swine. Owners (farmers, lessees) of agricultural animals shall be responsible for the observance of sanitary and veterinary rules and regulations related to animal health and shall have the following duties: (a) to register animals by the local veterinary service unit; (b) to carry out trade, slaughtering, grazing and transportation with prior authorization of veterinary service; (c) to put in quarantine for 30 days newly arrived animals; and (d) to inform the local veterinary unit of all suspected cases of brucellosis.
