Entry into force notes
This Act enters into force on 28 February 1997.
Resumen

This Act, consisting of 101 sections divided into twelve Parts and completed by two Schedules, aims to promote the protection and conservation of places having historic cultural heritage significance. The Act provides for the establishment of the Tasmanian Heritage Council and defines its composition and its functions. A Heritage Fund shall also be established. The Heritage Council is to keep a register known as the Tasmanian Heritage Register. Required criteria for entry in Register are set out in the Act. The Act provides for: the declaration of heritage areas; application for approval to carry out works in registered places or heritage areas; heritage agreements; shipwrecks; certificates for unregistered places; etc.
