Resumen

The Act provides for horses affected by the Glanders and Farcy disease or other epidemics and may apply also to donkeys, mules and camels. Inspectors appointed by the Government under this Act, shall dispose for a Veterinary to examine the affected animal. When the Glanders and Farcy disease has been diagnosed and certified in writing by the Veterinary, the Inspector shall dispose for killing the diseased animal. In case of other diseases, the Inspector may decide either for killing or treating the animal. The Inspector may order the disinfection of the place where the animal was kept and the destruction of all things that came in contact with it. (Glanders and Farcy is a serious bacterial disease and zoonosis caused by Burkholderia mallei, affecting mainly the respiratory tract and skin of equines. It is called "Glanders" when the principal lesions are seen in the nostrils, sub maxillary glands and lungs: "Farcy" when located on the surface of limbs or body).
