Resumen

This Part of Chapter 585 of the Florida Statutes contains general provisions governing the animal industry in Florida. Specifically, it states that the Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services of Florida shall enforce the provisions of this Chapter. Further, the Part provides for the power of the department to enter private premises for purpose of inspection, testing, etc.; the department being charged with enforcement of law and duties of state attorneys; courts having the power to enforce provisions by mandamus or injunction; prohibition of an interference with department employees; and violation of the provisions of the Chapter. Finally, the Part creates the Animal Industry Technical Council within the department. The Council is composed of the beef cattle, swine, dairy, horse, independent agricultural market, meat processing and packing establishment, veterinary medicine, and poultry representatives who serve on the State Agricultural Advisory Council and three additional representatives from the beef cattle industry, as well as three at-large members representing other animal industries in the state.
