It states that the Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services is continued and is under the management and control of a Commissioner. The Chapter then lists the Commissioner’s extensive powers in the areas of agriculture and consumer services in Virginia, which includes promoting, protecting, and developing the agricultural interests of the Commonwealth of Virginia. The Chapter also establishes the Board of Agriculture and Consumer Services as a policy board. The Board is charged with all matters tending to the promotion of the agricultural interests of the Commonwealth. It is also required to advise the Governor on the state of the agricultural industry and to advise him on promoting the development of the industry.
