Resumen

The Forestry Policy is a national sectoral policy adopted by the Government of Grenada to provide guidance to all stakeholders concerned with the wise use and sound management of the country’s forest resources. The goal of the Policy is to maximize the contribution of forests to environmentally-sound social and economic development in Grenada. The Policy provides the following objectives: a) conserve species, ecosystems, and genetic diversity; b) maintain, enhance and restore the ability of forests to provide goods and services on a sustainable basis; c) optimize the contribution of forest resources to social and economic development; and d) maintain a positive relationship between the people and their forest environment. The Policy is divided into the following subsectors: biodiversity, mangroves, non-timber forest products, recreation and eco-tourism, timber production, tree planting, watershed management, and wildlife management.
