This Law enters into force on the date of its publication in the Official Gazette.
Resumen

This Law is composed of 31 articles. Articles 1 and 2 deal with terms and definitions. Article 3 trusts the General Institution for Food and Medicines to the control and sanitary supervision on food. Article 4 illustrates the competencies and duties of the General Institution for Food and Medicines. Article 5 decrees the establishment of the High Committee for Food Control at the General Institution for Food and Medicines formed from specialists and experts. Article 7 defines competencies and duties of the High Committee for Food Control. Article 8 fixes the competence and duty of the Director of the High Committee for Food Control. Article 9 decrees the establishment of the Technical Committee at the Ministry of Public Health formed from specialists and experts. Article 10 defines requirements and principles for the preparation, adoption, revising, publication and applying of the sanitary arrangements and measures. Article 11 provides for necessary measures to ascert the compatibility of food with the sanitary requirements and arrangements. The General Institution cooperating with relevant authorities shall lay down the National Standardization and Metrology for food (art. 12). Article 14 prohibits the importation or introduction in Jordan food and food additives before obtaining a previous authorization from the General Institution for Food and Medicines. Articles 17 and 18 list cases of food fraudulent, adulteration and deceit. Articles 22 and 23 contains offences and penalties. Article 27 defines fees and royalties for services and implementation of this Law.
