It consists of 188 sections and is divided into 12 Parts. Part 2 establishes the service and regulates its membership and operation, along with setting its functions. Part 3 creates the Queensland Fire and Rescue Service Fund. Part 4 deals with the personnel of the Queensland Fire and Rescue Service and Part 4A establishes and regulates the Emergency Service Advisory Council. Under Part 5, the Rural Fire Council is continued in existence and provisions on its operation are set. Part 6 deals with the powers of authorized fire officers. Part 7 is dedicated to the control and prevention of fires and Part 8 deals with fire emergencies. Part 9 is dedicated to off-site emergency plans for dangerous goods and Part 9A contains fire safety provisions for buildings. Part 11 contains general provisions, among others on inquiries into fires, right of way of fire officers and offences.
