Entry into force notes
This Executive Decree enters into force on the day of its publication.
Resumen

This Executive Decree, under article 18 of Presidential Decree No. 223/20 of 28 August, approves the Regulation of the National Directorate of Renewable Energy and Rural Electrification of the Ministry of Energy and Water (DNERER). The Regulation, consisting of four Chapters and two Tables, establishes composition, duties and responsibilities of the DNERER, entitled to perform the following activities: participate in the elaboration of the national electrification policy and in its implementation; participate in the elaboration of the national energy policy, as well as monitor its execution; promote the development of networks in the rural environment; promote the use of appropriate and low-cost technologies to be applied in the electrification of rural areas and remote centres; technically support the production and distribution centres that depend on the Local Administration Bodies; elaborate, propose and execute the policy for the development and use of renewable energy, including hydropower generation and monitor its execution; assess, certify and monitor renewable energy technologies according to the quality, safety and environmental standards in force; licensing renewable energy infrastructures and maintaining the respective register; regulate the activities of the Renewable Energy Sector and monitor its compliance; carry out studies on the environmental impact of the use of different energy resources and propose measures for their mitigation; propose and enforce the policy of operating small isolated power plants and rural networks, etc.
