Resumen

This Chapter of the Code of Virginia concerns endangered plant and insect species. According to the Chapter, it is unlawful for any person to dig, take, cut, process, or otherwise collect, remove, transport, possess, sell, offer for sale, or give away any species native to or occurring in the wild in the Commonwealth that are listed in this Chapter or the regulations as threatened or endangered. The Commissioner of Agriculture and Consumer Services of Virginia may establish programs as are deemed necessary for the management of threatened or endangered species; accept funds for use in the furtherance of this Chapter; issue a permit authorizing the removal, taking, or destruction of threatened or endangered species on the state list; stop sale, seize, or return to point of origin at the owner's expense, any threatened or endangered species or part thereof; and see an administrative inspection warrant signed by any judge where permission to enter property is denied by the owner or occupant. The Chapter further provides for the powers of the Board of Agriculture and Consumer Services in relation to endangered plant and insect species; lists certain plants as threatened; and provides for enforcement measures and penalties.
