Resumen The purposes of this Act are to: (I) create an electricity supply regime which recognizes that safe, least cost, reliable and environmentally sustainnble electricity is vital to the economic and social welfare of The Bahamas and encourages and promotes diversification in the generation, transmission, distribution and supply of electricity; and energy efficiency, energy conservation, and the development arid use of renewable energy resources and technologies; (II) secure the long-term energy security of The Bahamas through the establishment of a legal and regulatory framework that ensures the provision of a safe, least cost, reliable and environmentally sustainable supply of electricity; and (III) establish an electricity sector policy for the supply of electricity throughout The Bahamas consistent and in accordance with the goals of the national energy policy.
