In addition to its powers under the Government Business Enterprises Act 1995, the Board has power to - (a) sell, or arrange for the sale of, a commodity delivered or to be delivered to it; and (b) provide a commodity for consumption in Tasmania; and (c) provide for the supply of a commodity to any place in Tasmania where there is a shortage of that commodity; and (d) make arrangements relating to the sale of a commodity for export or for consignment to another State, a Territory or another country; and (e) buy a commodity (sect. 7). The Board may appoint employees and other persons to be inspectors (sect. 9). Section 19 introduces a prohibition on keeping hens without licence granted by the Board. There shall be a base production quota fixed for each licence (sect. 33). The State Hen Quota is the total of the base quotas for all licences (sect. 39).
