Entry into force notes
This Decree enters into force on the day of its publication.
Resumen

This Decree, consisting of ten Chapters divided into 69 articles, establishes the the Regulation for the Protection, Conservation and Sustainable Use of Birdlife. The Regulation, consisting of 41 articles divided into five Chapters, a Glossary and Appendices from A to L, aims at the protection, conservation and sustainable use of birdlife in the national territory, including its natural, continental, marine, lake and river habitats. This Regulation applies to all birds existing or passing by the national territory and to all natural and legal, public and private persons, who, directly or indirectly, may influence the birdlife of Mozambique. The Protection measures are as follows: 1. Upon the recommendation of scientific studies that prove the need to protect the birdlife, their habitats, nesting areas, protection zones can be established as provided for in the Conservation Law and other applicable legislation. 2. Special or transitory measures for the protection of the birdlife may also be defined, during the period of reproduction, migration and nesting. 3. The exercise of any activity or construction of infrastructures capable of disturbing the birdlife or its habitat in the areas above mentioned is prohibited. 4. All economic or social infrastructure, to be built in sensitive areas for birds, must respect international standards of good practice, ensuring the placement of signaling devices that prevent collision of birds or any other damage that affects the avifauna. Articles 5 to 8 deal with: Birdlife Protection Zones; Protected species; Prohibited Activities; and Permitted activities.
