Entry into force notes
This Decree enters into force on the day of its publication.
Resumen

This Decree approves the Regulation of Law No. 8.182 of 16 November 2004 providing for Plant Sanitary Protection in the State of Maranhão. This Regulation, consisting of 85 articles divided into twelve Chapters, aims at guiding the correct application and enforcement of the Law and establishes necessary measures for Plant Health Protection, issued by the State Plant Protection Agency, providing for production, packaging, trade, storage, industrialization, entry, exit, surveillance and transit in Maranhão territory of plants and parts of plants (cuttings, cuttings, branches, roots, tubers, bulbs, seeds, fruits, flowers and leaves), pests at any stage of the life cycle, capable of causing economic damage to plants and their products. It under the responsibility of the State Agency of Agricultural and Livestock Protection of Maranhão (AGED/MA) to regulate the coordination and execution of the activities related to Plant Health Protection. The provisions laid down in this Regulation shall extend also to: materials, boxes, bags and other objects, machinery, implements and agricultural tools used for production, harvesting, transport, packaging, handling, processing or industrialization.
