Notwithstanding the prohibition, vessels of Norway with a purse seine licence may catch 33.481 tons of capelin in the Fisheries zone of Jan Mayen, and in areas of the Fisheries Zones of Greenland and Iceland north of 64° 30 N and the EEZ of Norway north of 64° 00. Of this amount 22.561 tons may be caught in the EEZ of Iceland. Article 6 specifies basic single catch quotas based on the size of the participating vessel. The Fisheries Directorate may order a stop on fishing once the maximum allowable catch is reached (art. 8). Remaining provisions concern bycatch, blocking of fishing areas, further regulation, and offences.
