Decree No. 1029 of 1983 concerning the protection of the Moffen Nature Reserve on Svalbard.

This Decree declares the island of Moffen and a marine area of 300 meters around the island measured from the low-water mark to be a nature protection reserve. The aim of Decree is to protect important places of rest for walruses and to protect also plant and animal species belonging to such places. Various activities, including demersal fishing and any hunting or whaling and the introduction of new animal or plant species are prohibited. Exemptions form the prohibitions may be granted for research and protection measures.
