Entry into force notes
This Decree enters into force within 180 days after its publication.
Resumen

This Decree-Law, consisting of 6 Chapters and two Annexes, defines and establishes the process of fortification of wheat flour with iron and folic acid, as well as technical standards and procedures of the Codex Alimentarius related to the addition of these nutrients applicable to all individual or collective persons duly licensed, performing the commercial activities and related industrial production and marketing of wheat flour in the whole national territory. It specifies standards to be satisfied by wheat flour type 45, 55 and 65, whose characteristics are set out in Decree-law No. 84/2005 of 19 December, but not applying for the flour type 80, 110 and 150, due to technological limitations process and the low marketing and consumption. It specifically regulates the wheat fortification process and responsibilities of operators, the organization and competence, quality control, and surveillance and infringements establishing the respective penalty regime.
