Decision No. 1114/QD-TTg approving the master plan on socio-economic development of the Central Vietnam’s northern and coastal region through 2020.

This Decision approves the master plan on socio-economic development of the Central Vietnam’s northern and coastal region through 2020 with the following principal overall objectives: To build the region into the one which will develop in a dynamic, rapid and sustainable manner, an important bridge of the whole country in international exchange and cooperation; to maintain political stability and social order and safety, associate marine economic development with assurance of national defense and security and protection of sovereignty over the sea and islands of the country. To basically improve material, cultural and spiritual lives of people and step up hunger elimination and poverty reduction, especially for ethnic minority people and people in extremely disadvantaged communes and former resistance bases; to intensify protection and improvement of people’s health. To minimize effects of natural disasters, floods, storms and drought and protect the eco-environment; to effectively respond to climate change, especially sea level rise.
