Resumen The present Regulation enforces the Environmental Assessment Act (R.S.O. 1990, c. E.18). In particular, the Regulation makes individual producers responsible for managing their waste. There shall be a transition period of three months for producers to meet most requirements, such as the requirement to provide for the collection and disposal of waste pharmaceuticals and sharps and have the minimum number of collection locations available (i.e. by 1 January 2013). The Regulation provides the level-playing field requested by the pharmaceuticals and sharps industry and allows producers the flexibility to determine how best to meet the requirements.
